Youth unemployment is a significant issue in Bangladesh, with an estimated 12 percent of young people aged 15-29 being unemployed as of 2020. The problem is particularly acute for young women, who experience higher rates of unemployment than young men. Limited job opportunities, inadequate skills, and a mismatch between skills and employer demand are some of the key factors contributing to youth unemployment in Bangladesh. The COVID-19 pandemic has further exacerbated the problem, with many young people losing their jobs or experiencing reduced working hours. Addressing youth unemployment is crucial for the country’s economic growth and social development. Here comes Jobletic – a dedicated platform established in 2020 that empowers young people in Bangladesh by providing a link between job seekers and employers, offering key skill training, and facilitating career grooming. Jobletic works closely with private sectors, educational institutions, non-government organizations (NGOs), and government organizations to support young people and help them reach their potential.
Jobletic prioritizes green jobs to help Bangladesh achieve Sustainable Development Goals
Green jobs are employment opportunities that contribute to preserving or restoring the environment, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting sustainable development. In Bangladesh, green jobs can play a critical role in achieving sustainable development by addressing the challenges of unemployment, poverty, and climate change. By investing in green jobs, Bangladesh can create new opportunities for young people, enhance economic growth, and promote climate resilience. However, the government, private sector, and civil society need to work together to create an enabling environment that supports the development and growth of green jobs. This requires policy and regulatory frameworks that promote green entrepreneurship, investment in green infrastructure and technology, and education and training programs that prepare the workforce for the green economy. Aligning with the goals, Jobletic focuses on creating youths’ perception, exploring opportunities and connecting young people to green jobs in Bangladesh.
